I grow up in a town called Morrinsville known for its cows
and drug testing their children. It’s a hole, never
go there.
In 2000 I moved to Wanganui in the hopes of studying Fine
Arts but was told, post interview that I was “too immature”
to attend that year. So I attended the foundation course.
During that year I decided to study Fashion Design instead
of Fine Arts, partly because of the marks I received in my
fashion elective and partly because I couldn’t see much
of a future in art and to this very day my Dad still questions
that decision (gay germs and all that).
Whilst studying at the Wanganui school of Fashion, I developed
my passion for fashion, design and illustration. During my
final year I launched my first clothing line at the “show
and tell” graduates fashion show (2003), happily named
D-formation.
Over the past year I have started up my own little clothing
business, D-formation clothing and am now selling through
Dandylion in Wellington (Bank arcade).
Have had artwork in the Sarjeant gallery review and was part
of the graduates show “brooching the subject”
at the flying horse gallery.
