David Traub is a native New Yorker transplanted
(several time) now
living and working in Wanganui. As well as maintaining his
standing of
30 years as a glass artist he currently teaches and manages
the glass
programs at Whanganui UCOL. He is a self taught glass
blower who for
the past 6 years has extended his practice into the kiln
working
processes of Fusing and slumping. The platter forms
on this web site
are made up from components made in the hot shop, cut reassembled
and
fused. "I see my forms as a vehicle to explore
painterly qualities
using light instead of pigment, the platter affords me a
canvas like
shape which I manipulate colour to create my compositions"
