What is the purpose of all these images, objects and performances we call art?
What status is due the places that host and display them? I art merely an escape, a self-indulgent therapy? Is it an intellectual game guided by academic discipline? Is it analysis of culture or personal history?. Is it a vehicle for story-telling or commentaries on previous art?
Should ‘Art’ be a commodity for sale? What is the difference between good art and art that is less good? What is the likelihood that everyone who is engaged in the making of artworks will agree on the answers to the above questions?
