The paintings contain geometries of colour in
layers, so that the painting plane is shaped into a visual
experience of depth and circulation. In recent years I have
often worked with pentagonal geometries, using permanent,
water-based mediums for paintings on canvas and board. Sequences
of glass panels with kiln-fired colours also reflect my painting
concerns.
Consistency in the paintings over time is apparent in the
construction of colour relations, extending back to the mid-1970’s
when I began exhibiting professionally in Australia. My painting
practice has been influenced by feminist concerns since that
time. Exhibitions in New Zealand and Australia.
